Government Assistance for Single Mothers and Families

Families everywhere are struggling to meet their financial obligations. There are families that are caught up having to decide what bills they should pay, or if they should buy food. It shouldn't ever be this difficult for anyone, since there is government assistance for single mothers and families out there, if you know where to look, and what you have to do.

You may not be aware of the fact that billions in tax dollars are allocated annually for grants, and you and other Americans are paying taxes that support these grant programs. If you go to grants.gov, you will find all of the grant programs that the government sponsors, and they encompass a large variety of topics. The downside, is that unless you know how to read in legal speak, you will not know which grants you actually qualify for. That's not all; this particular site limits its listing to government sponsored grants and does not include the grants that are available from local cities, non-profit groups, etc.

The government will give assistance to those families and single mothers via grants and other offices. Every state has different requirements you must meet, but each state also has some form of assistance for you to apply for.

Consequently, if you have children, or you are pregnant, you may be able to qualify for this grant money. The necessary qualifications include being a citizen of the U.S., having permanent resident status, or being a legal alien, and you must have a low income, which includes being unemployed, or you are facing imminent unemployment. If you qualify under these criteria, you are eligible for getting assistance through a government grant.

The sad fact is many out there who are facing these troubling times and have lost their homes and their jobs did not know that there is government assistance for single mothers and families. These poor families go without their basic needs such as food and a roof over their head. What a sad fact this is.

Government Grants for Home Owners

Have you been putting off doing some updates to your home because of the cost? Would you be more apt to do those improvements, if there were government grants for home owners? If so, then start improving, as the government has an Energy Star tax credit program avialable.

If your home needs a new roof, look into the metal roofs. These carry a tax credit, which will put some money back in your pocket. These types of roofs are energy efficient and help keep down your heating/cooling costs. These roofs might also reduce your insurance costs too, as they are more sturdy than standard shingle roofs.

If you are in need a new air conditioning system, the newer energy efficient ones will also be included in the government's Energy Star program. The new systems are so much nicer and can even be fitted with an air cleaner to make your inside air less dirty, which is great for allergy sufferers.

Don't forget, not only will these home improvements save you money in monthly electric costs but they will also add to the value of your home AND give you a tax credit. Pretty much a win - win - win situation.

These are only a few of the grants for home owners available, so be sure to do your free grant money research and apply before you start improving.
